Jim Colvin is the Chief Legal Officer and Executive Chairman of Serious Industrial Motion Simulators (SIMS), a global technology company that develops virtual reality training solutions for mobile elevating work platforms and the general heavy equipment industry.

As a technology executive, investor and technology/IP lawyer, Jim specializes in start-up and growth-stage companies. Over the past 12 years, Jim led SIMS’ predecessor, Serious Labs, from its early-stage roots as a tech company to a world leader in the field of virtual reality-based industrial training simulators.

Jim holds an honors law degree from the University of London, while his NCA accreditation comes from the Faculty of Law at the University of Victoria. He focused his practice on intellectual property and business law.
